Mukherjee will also attend a meeting of the ambitious Mekong-Ganga cooperation project involving India, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.

Under this project, a study is being undertaken for a rail line from Delhi to Hanoi. RITES has already completed a preliminary study, N Ravi, Secretary (East) in the External Affairs Ministry, told reporters on Tuesday.

India is also keenly awaiting the opening of the second 'Friendship Bridge' over the Mekong connecting Sawanaker in Laos with Mukdahan in Thailand.

With the completion of this bridge, it is possible to travel by road from anywhere in India right upto Danang, a major port on the Vietanmese coast, he said.

At the India-ASEAN Summit, there will be a review of relations among them and discussions on future directions.
