A 25-year-old youth from India was stabbed to death in a "racial attack" in Ilford, Essex, the police said on Monday.

Jaspreet Singh, who was from Punjab, was stabbed while waiting for a bus on Saturday morning.

Singh died of a single stab wound to the heart as he and a friend waited for a night bus on Chapel Road.

A 19-year-old unemployed youth, identified as Kamuzu Munroe of Ilford, was produced before the Redbridge Magistrates Court on Monday charged with the murder.
