Amitabh, Mithun to star in Gangotri

The sequel fever seems to have gripped Bhojpuri cinema. After delivering a hit with Ganga, producer Deepak Sawant, Amitabh Bachchan’s make-up man, is all set to make a sequel titled Gangotri.

The film, which will be a first sequel in Bhojpuri, will bring Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun Chakraborty together after a hiatus of 17 years. The last time they worked together was for Agneepath  in 1990. Chakraborty may get to play the antagonist in the movie.

“Mithunda is not exactly playing a villain in the film. We’ve spoken to him and he has verbally agreed to be a part of it. But nothing is finalised yet,” says Sawant.

Though Nagma was cast opposite Ravi Kissen in the first film, she’ll be missing in the sequel. The reason may be due to their alleged link-up and break-off.

However, Sawant denies the speculation saying, “In the sequel, we may show that Ravi and Nagma have shifted to London. Like I said before, nothing has been finalised yet. We are still working on the final script.”

But the news is that Sawant has already signed Bhumika Chawla in place of Nagma. “In Ganga, there was no one opposite Manoj Tiwari and this time, Chawla is opposite him. Mithunda will be playing Chawla’s elder brother in the film,” reveals Sawant.

In the climax of Ganga, Bachchan is shown serving a prison term. In Gangotri, the film will continue with Bachchan’s release. Hema Malini will be cast opposite Bachchan. The shooting is expected to begin from April 16.
