A ra ra ra, Dakshaben is back in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Ketaki Dave, who left the show after making her character from Junagadh a household name with her trademark refrain, makes her re-entry on Monday.

Dave is naturally very excited about returning to the show which made her very popular.

“Balaji Telefilms did offer me the role in the past too, but somehow things didn’t materialise. This time, I agreed since I felt I owed it to them…refusing to play Daksha again and again didn’t seem right.”

While Dave doesn’t know what her character will look like, she’s certain, “Daksha can never change. Her joy for life and her young-at-heart attitude obviously will not change. I don’t know what my look will be. I will go with whatever they have in mind.” It’s learnt that Daksha will have a trendy, hip look.

Ask her if her re-entry is only to pep up the proceedings and she says, “Well, they didn’t have a comedy track, so to speak, after I quit. So I guess it seemed right to get me back rather than introduce a new comic character. In any case, even after I quit the show, Daksha never left me. I was still playing her in plays and films.”

It may be recalled that Dave had quit the show after she refused to do a take-off on a colleague. So has she spoken to Ektaa Kapoor? “Yes, I have. We have put the past behind us.

“Given the long running record of Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, I think it’s going to last forever. I will be there with them right till the end.” Meanwhile, Dave is looking forward to doing films: “That’s because I’m a bit skeptical of doing daily TV soaps. Besides, noth ing exciting from TV has come my way".
