| | Despite all kinds of trouble and protests Tata Motors will start production of its small cars at Singur by 2008, the Tatas have clarified. After a meeting of more than two hours with the Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee at Swasthya Bhaban on Monday evening the Tata chief, Ratan Tata said, "I am quite confident that small car will roll out by the schedule 2008 at Singur. I also appreciate the state government for giving all supports to us for the automobile project." Tata while speaking to the reporters said that the automobile project would bring jobs to the people of Singur improving the livelihood in the area. He said that 1,000 acres of land have been acquired at Singur. The automobile project would come up on 700 acres of land while the rest land would be used for ancillary industries. The Tata chairman when asked about the protests by opposition parties at the project site, he said Tatas were always ready to talk to any responsible party about the project. He also said that he has evidence on how some rival automobile companies are fuelling the protests by political parties against the Tata Motors project at Singur. He said, "We have clear evidence. In right time we will make it public." The chief minister said that his government was still confident about the completion of the Tata Motors project at Singur. Bhattacharjee said, "Things are moving in right direction. The project will be completed in scheduled time. About 1,000 farmers have already been engaged for the project.
