She proudly calls herself a “non-ambitious soul,” and gives all the credit to her husband, Ashutosh Rana, for her much-awaited comeback.

Renuka Shahane, who is soon going to be seen on Sony television as Anjali Dhanrajgeer in Jeete Hain Jiske Liye, says “So far there were plenty of offers coming my way but nothing was as good as Jiske... Moreover, this time Ranaji convinced me so well that I could not say no to it,” says Renuka.

Now, that she has come back to work, Renuka says the toughest bit is to leave her children behind at home.

“This is the first time in five years that I have spent a night without my kids to be in Delhi. I am already dying to see them,” she says. Talking about the show, Renuka says, “It is about an orphan girl, who is now married and nourishes a dream of becoming a mother. I am a mother of two in reality and relate completely with the character."

Ask her if there’s anything else on the anvil and she says, “I now want to move be hind the camera and wish to direct Ranaji.” Renuka utilised her sabbatical to do a research for a script.

“It’s a psychological thriller and I have written with Ashutosh in mind,” she says. So, how does she rate herself as a wife? “For a husband like him I have to be the best,” concludes the actress with that million dollar smile.
